About Dr. Busch

Welcome

Dr. Linda Busch graduated with Honors in Psychology from Lehigh University in 1985. She went on to complete her master's degree and doctorate in Clinical Psychology at Bowling Green State University in 1992. Her doctoral dissertation was on attachment relationships, particularly those between older children and parents.

Dr. Busch completed doctoral training at the Veteran's Hospital in Albany, New York, where she worked for seven years before entering private practice. Her practice focuses on the treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) along with Dissociative Disorders, Depression, Mood Disorders, Stress, Relationship problems, Anxiety Disorders, Substance Abuse and adoptive family issues.  In 2008, she and her late-husband published I Cut It Out: An (ex) Drunk's Guide to Sobriety.

Family Life

"As soon as I saw you, I knew an adventure was going to happen."
Winnie The Poo

In 2005, Dr. Busch and her husband, Jeffrey Somach, became adoptive parents. Although they started off seeking to adopt as young a male  infant as possible, as destiny would have it they adopted an 8-year-old girl born on the same date as Dr. Busch's husband. Four years after adopting their daughter, Jeffrey Somach died from melanoma that metastasized to his brain in 2009 but Dr. Busch continues his work within the Recovery/Addiction community.  Dr. Busch's daughter, who is now 18 years old, is an example of the resilience of adopted children, including those who have suffered many tragedies.  Her daughter is a healthy, stunning young woman pursing higher education in Veterinary and Animal Studies. Dr. Busch is a leading national expert in pre-adoptive parent evaluation and attachment.
